GeneHome is operated by Genehome Biosciences Co., Ltd., a company registered in Hong Kong. In this Privacy Policy, “GeneHome,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Genehome Biosciences Co., Ltd.
We collect, use, store, and process information only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, manage, secure, and improve the editorial services requested by our clients and to comply with applicable requirements.
1. Information we may collect
Personal and contact information. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, WeChat details, institutional affiliation, and other information you voluntarily provide.
Manuscripts and editorial materials. This may include manuscripts, abstracts, figures, tables, supplementary files, reviewer comments, response letters, references, and other documents submitted for language editing, academic editing, manuscript preparation support, or related editorial services.
Communications and service records. We may retain enquiries, quotations, service instructions, revision requests, delivery communications, and customer-support records.
Order and transaction information. We may process information needed to administer quotations, payments, invoices, refunds, and related records. Third-party payment providers may process payment details directly.
Website and technical information. Our server and technology providers may process IP addresses, browser and device information, access times, and security logs needed to operate and protect the website.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide requested editorial services, communicate about quotations and projects, process transactions, maintain service quality and security, resolve enquiries or disputes, and comply with applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
Unless authorized by you or required or permitted by applicable law, we do not use personal information, unpublished manuscripts, research data, or other confidential materials for unrelated marketing, sale, data trading, independent research, publication, or unrelated commercial purposes.
3. Confidentiality and ownership
Unpublished manuscripts and research materials submitted to GeneHome are treated as confidential information. Access is limited to personnel, editors, specialists, and authorized service providers who reasonably require it to perform the requested service.
Without authorization, we do not publish, sell, distribute, license, independently exploit, or disclose confidential research materials to unrelated third parties. Submission does not transfer copyright, authorship, ownership, or other intellectual-property rights to GeneHome.
4. Artificial intelligence and automated tools
We will not submit unpublished manuscripts, research data, or confidential client materials to public or general-purpose AI services without the client’s prior authorization. Where approved AI-assisted tools are used, we take reasonable steps to select services with appropriate confidentiality, access-control, retention, and model-training protections.
We do not intentionally use client manuscripts or confidential research materials to train public, general-purpose, or unrelated artificial-intelligence models.
5. Service providers and international processing
We may use providers for website hosting, enterprise email, file storage, communications, payment processing, cybersecurity, and other necessary infrastructure. They may process limited information where reasonably necessary to provide their services.
Some providers may process or store information outside the client’s jurisdiction. Where cross-border processing occurs, we seek to apply reasonable confidentiality, security, and data-protection safeguards and to meet applicable requirements.
We do not sell or rent client personal information, manuscripts, or research materials.
6. Security, retention, and deletion
We take reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, misuse, or destruction. No electronic transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to complete requested services, manage revisions and support, maintain appropriate business records, resolve disputes, protect legitimate legal interests, or comply with applicable requirements. When continued retention is no longer reasonably necessary, information may be securely deleted, anonymized, or otherwise appropriately disposed of.
Clients may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information or project materials. Requests are handled subject to applicable law, identity verification, and legitimate retention requirements.
7. Patient and research-participant information
Clients are responsible for ensuring that submitted materials have been lawfully and ethically collected, used, and disclosed and, where applicable, supported by suitable approvals or authorizations.
Clients should remove or appropriately de-identify patient and research-participant information whenever it is not necessary for the requested service. Please do not submit directly identifiable patient or participant information unless it is strictly necessary and GeneHome has agreed in advance to receive it.
8. Cookies and website technologies
The website currently uses server logs and technologies necessary for security and basic operation. GeneHome does not currently use advertising cookies or behavioural-advertising technologies. If non-essential analytics or similar technologies are introduced, this policy and any required choices will be updated as appropriate.
9. Changes and contact
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our services, technologies, practices, or applicable requirements. The updated version will be published with a revised “Last Updated” date.
